1. Our Commitment
Vapour Auto is committed to providing a website and studio experience that is accessible to people with disabilities. Treating everyone with dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity is part of how we run our business.
This statement describes the accessibility of vapourauto.com and our studio at 1 Sweetnam Drive, Ottawa. We comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its regulations.
2. Accessibility Standards
Our website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, as required by the AODA Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
WCAG 2.0 Level AA is an international standard that defines how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
3. Measures We've Taken
To make our website accessible, we have:
- Used semantic HTML so screen readers and assistive technologies can navigate page structure correctly.
- Provided alternative text for meaningful images and decorative-image suppression for visuals that carry no information.
- Ensured colour contrast meets WCAG 2.0 AA ratios for body text and interactive elements.
- Designed the site to be fully keyboard navigable, with visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Labelled all form fields, buttons, and interactive controls so they are recognisable to assistive technologies.
- Used responsive layouts that adapt to text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Avoided content that flashes more than three times per second to reduce seizure risk.
- Provided clear page titles and heading hierarchy so users can orient themselves quickly.
4. Limitations and Known Issues
Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible:
- Embedded third-party content such as Google Maps and social media embeds may not fully meet WCAG 2.0 AA. We do not control the accessibility of these third-party services but we work to provide accessible alternatives where possible.
- Older blog content may have inconsistent alt text. We are progressively reviewing and improving these.
- Some marketing videos may not yet have captions. If you need a transcript or captioned version, contact us and we will provide one.
We treat any accessibility issue as a real problem and work to fix it. If you find one, please tell us using the feedback process below.
5. Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with current and recent versions of major assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Speech-recognition software such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
- Browser-based zoom and high-contrast modes.
- Keyboard-only navigation.
If you use an assistive technology and encounter difficulty on our site, please let us know which technology and browser you are using so we can investigate.

9. Staff Training
All Vapour Auto staff receive training on the AODA, the Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities, and how to interact with customers with various types of disabilities. This includes how to use any equipment available on-site that helps people with disabilities, and what to do if a person with a particular disability needs help.
